WordPress installation is quite simple and fast if you are using Install WordPress option in cPanel, which most hosting provider like BlueHost or SiteGround provide for free. But for anyone who wanted to know WordPress Manual Installation or if your host doesn’t provide Install WordPress option here I will show you step-by-step.
Steps for WordPress Manual Installation
Firsly, go to WordPress official site and download latest version of WordPress. You will also need to have your cPanel login credentail (username and password). If you know don’t have this you can ask to your host.
So, let’s get started…
1. Create Database and Username
To start installation firslty we need to create database and username. Login to your cPanel (www.yourdomain.com/cpanel) and click MySQL Databases.
In the next step enter your database name and click Create Database.
Once you had created database remember your database name, we will need at installation process. Here we use letsblog_wpsite01.
The next step is to create database user. Click Go Back as show in the above screenshot, and scroll down to MySQL Users. Enter your database username and password and click Create A User button.
Now we had created database user as well. We will also need this database username letsblog_wpsite0 and password at installation process.
Unless we give privilege to the users we will not be able to connect database and database user. To do this go to Add a User to a Database and click Add.
Tick All Privileges to give full privilege to the user, and click Make changes. Now we are ready with our database. The next step is to upload WordPress files and connect with our database.
2. Upload WordPress files to server
Now we have to upload WordPress zip file in the server using cPanel. Go to the dashboard of your cPanel and click File Manager to upload the zip file.
You will be ask which directory you want to open, select Web Root to proceed. Remeber that we have to upload the zip at public_html folder. Click Upload to start uploading. A new tab will open where you can upload WordPress zip file.
Once upload is done close the new tab and click Reload to see the zip file. Select the zip file and click Extract to unzip the file.A pop-up will appear and follow the instruction.
By default all the files will be extract under wordpress folder. As we want the installation to happen in the root folder public_html (www.yourdomain.com/) and not www.yourdomain.com/wordpress we have to move the files to public_html. Open wordpress folder and select all the files by clicking Select All, and click Move File.
Delete /wordpress in the pop-up and click Move File(s) to start moving files to public_html. Now, all your files will be move from public_html/wordpress to public_html.
3. Execute Manual Installer
We had created database and uploaded WordPress files, so the next step is to execute the installation. Open a new browser/window and go to your site to start executing the installation.
Choose your preferred language and click Continue.
Click Let’s go!
Enter you Database detail (Database Name, Username and Password). You can write localhost at Database Host. You can write whatever you want for Table Prefix, but don’t take out ‘_’ (underscore).
