4 Basic steps to start a blog
Domain name is the name of your website or website address, for example www.LetsBlogOn.com.
Hosting is where all your website files are store, it is just like your local computer hard drive where you store your documents. To have website you need to have domain name and hosting.
Next step is where to buy domain name and host? I would recommend BlueHost to register your domain name and host your website. My blog is also host with BlueHost. I have no problem till now with their services.
Ok? Let’s start now… Click here to go to BlueHost (new window will open).
Click green button ‘Get started now‘ button.
Choose plan and click ‘Select’. As a starter I would recommend Basic plan, you can upgrade anytime in future.
You will be asked to enter a domain name.
Write your chosen domain and click ‘Next’.
In the next screen enter your Personal details. Fill all the required fields.
At Package Information you will be asked if you required more add-ons like Domain Privacy Protection, Site Backup Pro etc. Personally I don’t think you need any of these right now, this can be added anytime in future. You can untick all the options. Now your final payment will be less 🙂
At Payment Information enter your card detail.
Tick ‘I have read and agree…‘ option and click ‘Next’.
Once all the above is done you will get an email from BlueHost which contain all your hosting details, follow the instruction (If you are using Gmail, this email will be at Promotions tab).
In order to install WordPress you need to login to your control panel (also called cPanel).
Go to BlueHost and click Login (top right).
Enter your username and password and click ‘Submit’.
Once logged in click ‘cPanel’.
Click ‘Install WordPress’ button under Website.
Now you are about to install WordPress, click ‘Get Started’.
Select your domain name from ‘Select domain for installation’ dropdown if it is not selected, and then click ‘Next’.
(there will be few add-ons option below the page which you don’t need those for now)
Now, in ‘Installation Settings’ Site Name or Title, Admin Username, Admin Email Address & Admin Password will be prefilled for you, you can change if you need to. To proceed click ‘Install’ button.
(Don’t forget to tick the three options)
Your installation is almost done, to proceed click view credential here
